My name is Deidra Sanchez. I was the 5th person to graduate from their amazing Function Restoration Program. I had a wrist injury in 2001 and was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. I had been on pain medications for over 7 years, which I was able to stop taking completely. I learned how to get my life back! Dr. Mata is a one in a million doctor, he truly cares. Dr. Kirk was my confidant and cheerleader. Art and physical therapy are also equally important to your recovery! Open you mind and heart to what the FRP teaches you. You will rebuild your self-confidence and learn how to relax your body and mind. Also, the monthly support group, which I still attend, has been a true blessing.

“SCPWC is an amazing program! It got me out of bed and gave me a new perspective on life. Before this program, I spent everyday in bed feeling drugged up. This program got me off my medications and challenged me to exercise. At first, I didn’t even know how to turn on a treadmill, but by the time I graduated I had to ask the physical therapist to make up harder exercises for me! Even after the program, I continue to come back and work out! Thank you!”

“I am very happy I came to this program. Before, I had no life. I could not move or walk and my left arm had little movement. All of that changed while in this program. I am now able to walk almost a mile, lift weights, and I lost 3 dress sizes! I also recovered my self esteem. Huge thanks to the staff, they helped me overcome the pain that sets in from years of not moving. I was able to do exercises and stretches that are safe for people with chronic pain. I truly thank my doctor for getting me into this program”

“This Southern California Pain and Wellness Center taught me how to have faith in myself. I learned that exercise is actually a good thing. My body physically changed and I am more agile now. After the program, I went back to school for criminal justice and I currently have a 3.25 GPA. The staff are all wonderful people who taught me not to be afraid of failure. I found peace of mind. In this program, if you keep trying, you will succeed.”

After having herniated my L5 disc, the pain I experienced was intolerable. All of a sudden, activities like getting in and out of bed were difficult. If I swung my legs out of bed, like I used to, I would end on my knees in more pain then I care to share.

After my first session with Alona I learned some excellent exercises, which were easy to do from bed, on my back (my most comfortable position). After about a week, I noticed that the strengthening in my muscles were really supporting my back, and I starting to become me again. A few sessions later, I had all the tools to get back my prior self, and I couldn't be happier.

Thank you Alona, and Southern California Pain and Wellness Center for everything! Because of you, my back is back!

“The functional restoration program is an amazing program! It helped me get off my meds, brought together my family, and basically gave me my life back. To anyone thinking of doing the program, you should definitely do it. It really helped me a lot!”
